The LIDS Foundation "tipped their hat" for the 5th year in a row to five deserving charities across the country last Tuesday evening.
The LIDS Foundation, a charitable 501(c)(3) organization and the philanthropic support arm of retailer LIDS Sports Group, has named its 2017 “Tip the Hat Award” grant recipients. The Foundation’s national grant program provided $300,000 in funding to five deserving nonprofits this year.
The “Tip the Hat Award” is the LIDS Foundation’s largest annual grant, which supports nonprofits that promote active and healthy lifestyles as well as leadership and growth opportunities for today’s youth. Since the national grant program’s inception in 2013, the LIDS Foundation has gifted over $1 million in grant money to deserving nonprofits.
Grant recipients were selected from an open call for entries then placed before an online fan vote that determined the program’s five finalists. Finally, LIDS Sports Group employees participated in an employee-only survey that determined the level of grant support each finalist received.

“This year’s recipients are so deserving, and it’s an honor to support their missions and enable them to make an even greater impact in their communities,” said Glenn Campbell, LIDS co-founder and LIDS Foundation board member. “Both the LIDS Foundation and LIDS Sports Group understands the importance of uplifting today’s youth, and we will continue to reward those leading the charge.”
All recipients were recognized and celebrated at a special ceremony hosted by the LIDS Foundation at the retailer’s national headquarters in Indianapolis on April 11.
